The Analog Photographer is a small community gallery for film photographers, operated from Phoenix, Arizona, USA. This page explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what rights you have over your data. We aim to comply with privacy laws including the GDPR (EU/UK), CCPA/CPRA (California), PIPEDA (Canada), LGPD (Brazil), and the Arizona Consumer Data Privacy Act.
Visitors (not logged in). We only store the date of birth you enter in the age gate in your own browser (localStorage). That value never leaves your device. We do not set any tracking cookies for visitors and we do not use third-party advertising trackers.
Analytics (opt-in). If you click Accept on the cookie banner, we use Google Analytics 4 to collect aggregated, privacy-respecting traffic information so we can understand how the site is used (page views, country-level location, browser type, referring site, time on page) plus a small set of CTA events (which buttons people click, where they bail on the tour, how often photos are uploaded, etc.). We have IP anonymization in effect, we do not enable Google Signals, and we do not use Analytics data for advertising. If you click Decline, Google Analytics never loads on your device and no analytics events are collected. You can change your mind any time by clearing the tap-cookie-consent entry in your browser’s localStorage and reloading the page.
Registered users. When you create an account, we store your username, country, birthday, a bcrypt hash of your password, and a security question + hashed answer for password recovery. We do not ask for your email address or any other personal contact information at signup.
Optional profile information. Once registered, you may choose to add additional details to your profile via Profile Settings: a display name, location, bio, and links to Instagram, your website, Reddit, Facebook, X / Twitter, BlueSky, and one custom link of your choosing. All of these fields are completely optional and are never required to use the site, upload photos, or keep your account. You may leave them blank, fill in only some, or clear them at any time. Anything you do fill in is only displayed publicly when you have your public profile page enabled. If you prefer to remain anonymous, simply leave them blank.
Uploads. When you upload a photo, we store the image file plus any metadata you enter (camera, film stock, whether it is black and white or color, SFW or NSFW). We also record the IP address the upload came from. IPs are only visible to the site administrator and are used to investigate abuse.
Session cookie. When you log in, we set a single first-party session cookie so we know who you are on subsequent requests. It contains no personal data, just a random session id. It is deleted when you log out or delete your account.
Preferences. Dark mode and NSFW visibility preferences are stored in your own browser (localStorage) and are not transmitted to us.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We do not use your photos to train AI models.
You have the right to access, correct, export, and delete the personal information we hold about you. The fastest way to exercise most of these rights is to use the site itself:
We keep your account and photos for as long as your account exists. Reports and contact messages are kept until the site administrator resolves them, after which they may be deleted. Server access logs are kept for a short period for security and debugging purposes.
You must be at least 13 years old to register. NSFW content is only shown to visitors and users who are 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has registered, please contact us using the form below and we will remove the account.
Use this form to send a general message to the site administrator. For reports about a specific photo, please use the flag icon on that photo instead so we can link the report to the image.
